Art Creates Life "Journeys to A Dream" Fundraising Campaign
I know many Black Africans and African-Americans have their reservations of each other, however at the end of the day we're all Black and we really need to drop the self-righteous act. Now that that's out of the way...
The Art Creates Life Institute of Leadership and Cultural Development is a nonprofit international organization committed to developing global citizens who then become weapons of mass reconstruction by training them to use art as a vehicle to understand and confront issues that plague humanity.
The good people here are planning a trip for students and staff to Senegal and Sierra Leone this summer and they need us kind folks to help get them there. The fundraiser ends June 20th so donate $20 every month until the last day (if you're reading this blog I know you can contribute). If anything, do it for the students so they'll have the best summer vacation stories to share with their peers when school starts next September. A friend of mine is an Art Creates Life staffmember is helping to organize this trip so be sure to mention Jade Foster upon donation.
Here are the details:
Donate $20 TODAY and for the next five months and support our efforts to provide children and families in West Africa with the opportunity to receive arts education and literacy support through on-line classes. Access to education in these poverty stricken regions is very difficult due to economic strife. Children are put to work very early in order to help support their families, missing the valuable opportunity to learn. With your contribution, we will send U.S. students, "Ambassadors of the Light", to Thiadiaye and Petite Mboa villages in Senegal as well as Freetown, Sierra Leone in June 2009 to develop computer centers for these families in need. Our students and volunteers will tutor the children through on-line artistic projects and literacy support tools provided by our sponsor, Penguin Books. This project will not only support these communities but will also strengthen the skills of our U.S. students in leadership, literacy, and the arts while forging lifelong relationships between them. Make a difference today!
