DURKL Grand Opening x Survivor Series Vol. I Mixtape Release Recap

Saturday was the opening party and Survivor Series Vol. I Mixtape Release at the new DURKL store. Tucked in the cut in a reinvented shared warehouse space not far from Chinatown, the space has morphed into a multi-purpose room to not only shop in, but also chop it up with faces old and new.

Chicken wraps, 42Below caprinihias and Pabst Blue Ribbon (better known as PBR) were being served up all night while supplies lasted.

From crisp Black bombers to "not-so-ironic" tees to jeans only the slim, V-Shape toting man can rock, you'll be sure to find tailorings to meet anybody and budget.

DJ Gemz, the newest member to the Strange Music team, kept the beat going all night with tracks from the Judah x Durkl collab, Survivor Series Vol. I and some GoGo from my late teens, too (I slightly broke out in the "Beat Your Feet" dance). The WWF (not WWE) inspired mixtape is a compilation of local, national and international talent with hot ish from RAtheMc, The Party Bros., DJ Sega and Greenspan, June Luva, Adam Tensta and Empire of the Sun. Ranging from hip hop, rock and dance cuts, just like the Durkl brand, the Survivor Series Vol. I Mixtape has tunes for all ears.

The Survivor Series theme even inspired the creation of a limited edition Survivor Series tee (only 100 were produced). Bringing back memories of Saturday afternoons spent watching WWF on FOX and going over my boy's house to watch the big events, the tee sports hand-drawn lettering with a pic of an old favorite, The Ultimate Warrior. This event served as a reminder that folks from different walks of life can be in the same room and co-exist peacefully. I'd like to thank the two entities of music and fashion, Judah and Durkl, who made this happen. More of what the DMV needs for sure...
